Kay Cavender, APC

Kay Cavender is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor. She graduated from Valdosta State University where she obtained her Master of Education in Counselor Education with a Clinical Mental Health Counseling emphasis. During her undergraduate studies, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, with a double minor in Philosophy and Women & Gender Studies, also at Valdosta State University.

When working with clients, she utilizes a collaborative and person-centered approach. Sessions are catered to client’s needs and are structured for the client to have an unbiased, safe, and productive opportunity to process experiences and work toward their wellness goals. With prior experience in college counseling, community mental health, private practice, crisis response & stabilization, and substance abuse, she has worked with a variety of presenting concerns from depression and anxiety to grief and trauma, as well as crisis intervention and serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI).
Kay is passionate about improving mental health within our community and values client empowerment and advocacy. As a member of Discovery Counseling Team, her commitment to clients is to foster a nurturing and caring environment in an effort to enhance overall quality of life.

Kay is practicing under the supervision of Dr. A.J. Ramirez, LPC, CPCS.
